Brian Myers Previews His NWA PowerrrTrip 2 Bout With Nick Aldis, Aims To Win The Tag Titles With Matt Cardona

Brian Myers intends to make the most of his NWA debut at PowerrrTrip 2 on April 30.

“The Most Professional Wrestler” will face former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis on Saturday. Myers’ friend and tag team partner, Matt Cardona, successfully defended the Ten Pounds of Gold against Aldis at NWA Crockett Cup, and the former champion remains determined to regain the gold. Beating Cardona’s close ally would likely send a message to the champion, but Myers is quite confident heading into the bout.

During an appearance on the Battleground Podcast, Myers stated that he’s not concerned about Aldis; while he’s become a star in NWA, both Myers and Cardona have been competing all over the independent scene. He went on to call Aldis “one most boring professional wrestlers in the country” and made it clear that he intends to send him to the back of the line on Saturday.

“I’m feeling pretty confident about it,” said Myers. “To be honest, I’m not too worried about Nick Aldis. He’s made a name for himself in the NWA, and that’s about it because nobody else will have him. Me and Matt have been wrestling all over the country in multiple promotions. We’re the hottest free agents in all of wrestling, and I’m excited to make a debut in NWA and show people what The Most Professional Wrestler is all about.

“I’m gonna stomp a mudhole in his ass. Like I said, I’m very confident about this. Nick to me is one of the most boring professional wrestlers in the country, so I’m looking forward to exposing him and knocking him down a couple notches. You know, back of the line, pal. Maybe it’s gonna me and Matt for the championship soon after this. You guys ever think about that?”

Myers also noted that he’s “honored” to be part of the NWA, and he’s looking forward to making his debut in a high-profile match against Aldis. When asked about potentially doing more with the promotion moving forward, he noted that he’ll have to see how PowerrrTrip 2 goes, but he’s interested and open to ideas. At least for now, he’ll focus on Saturday’s show, where he plans on giving it his all.

“I think being that I’ve never been there, Saturday’s a big deal,” said Myers. “Will I like my surroundings, will I dig what’s going on in NWA? I don’t know, time will tell. I’m very interested. I’m open ears. All I can tell you is I’m gonna go in and do what I do, and that’s give it 110%, try to steal the show, try to make Nick Aldis relevant for once in his career and kick his ass.”

If Myers does stick around, he stated that he hopes to chase the gold in the tag team division alongside Cardona. He acknowledged the history the titles have and made it clear that he’d like to be part of the prestigious lineage.

“I think first and foremost would be the Tag Team Championships because I think that’s, similar to Matt being the NWA Champion, that lineage is there and that’s cool, and there’s history behind that,” said Myers. “And I think that’s something that Matt and I can sink our teeth into. So to add that to our resume, that’d be a nice little thing on the Wikipedia page that we could be proud of and bring some more eyeballs to NWA for sure.”
