Asuka returns to the red brand, Taya Valkyrie captures the Reina De Reinas Championship, Athena becomes the new Warrior Wrestling Women’s Champion, and so much more! Let’s break it all down in this week’s edition of Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up!
Asuka Returns To WWE
“The Empress of Tomorrow” shocked the Monday Night RAW audience this week with her return to the red brand amidst a powerful promo from Becky Lynch.
For the first time since July of 2021, Asuka made her presence known yesterday on RAW, interrupting the speech of “Big Time Becks”. Becky Lynch made her own respective return for the first time since WrestleMania, where she lost the RAW Women’s Championship to Bianca Belair.
Lynch appeared in a RAW ring without a championship for the first time since 2019. Becky went on to proclaim that she can only go up after falling to her rock bottom at WrestleMania. Lynch declared that she would regain the RAW Women’s Championship, and that no one could stop her on her mission. She then began naming talent on the RAW roster but was interrupted by a familiar face: Asuka.
“The Empress of Tomorrow” returned to a large pop from the WWE Universe, and to the dismay of Becky Lynch. Asuka proclaimed that she would indeed be the one to stop “Big Time Becks” from taking over again. Asuka then taunted the former RAW Women’s Champion with a flick to the nose.
Lynch attempted to retort with a punch, but Asuka quickly ducked beneath to avoid it. Lynch also quickly evaded a blow from Asuka as well, exiting the ring in the process.
So, is Becky Lynch ready for Asuka? Only time will tell, but one thing is for certain though: Asuka is back!

Also on Monday Night RAW, Bianca Belair retained her RAW Women’s Championship against Sonya Deville. Even with the aid of Carmella and Zelina Vega, Deville couldn’t put away “The EST of WWE”. Belair battled her way to deliver a KOD for the pinfall and win.

IMPACT Rebellion Results: New AAA Reina De Reinas Champion Crowned, Knockouts and Tag Team Titles On The Line
Over the weekend, IMPACT Wrestling held their 2022 Rebellion pay-per-view with three women’s championships on the line. Firstly, “The Champ Champ” Deonna Purrazzo defended her AAA Reina de Reinas Championship against former rival, Taya Valkyrie.
Heading into the matchup, Valkyrie returned to the IMPACT Zone on April 1st at Multiverse of Matches, confronting Purrazzo. Valkyrie had previously won a number one contenders match to earn a title shot at the Reina De Reinas Championship. At Rebellion, she finally got her opportunity.
Since capturing the AAA Reina De Reinas Championship last August, Deonna Purrazzo has been a nearly unstoppable force. She held regular open challenges for competitors to step up to “The Virtuosa”. Perhaps Purrazzo finally met her true match, because at IMPACT Rebellion, Taya Valkyrie emerged victoriously.
In a highly competitive bout, Purrazzo and Valkyrie battled for the gold. In the end, however, Taya Valkyrie landed the Road to Valhalla to finally dethrone Purrazzo. Therefore, she is the new AAA Reina de Reinas Champion. This win marks Valkyrie’s fourth reign as the Reina De Reinas Champion, now tied with Faby Apache for the most title reigns.

— TAYA VALKYRIE (@thetayavalkyrie) April 24, 2022
A play-by-play of the matchup, courtesy of WrestleZone, can be found below:
It’s Taya Valkyrie who begins the bout off hot. She’s in complete control as she nails her Pandemonium move in the corner. Momentum turns when Deonna collides Taya into the ring post. Deonna gets the action back into the ring to lock a Koji clutch but it gets broken up with a pin attempt.
Fight goes to the outside once more and Taya hits a Russian leg sweep against apron. Both women scream at one another in the ring and Taya is back in control. Taya goes for a Road to Valhalla, but Purrazzo hits a pump kick and standing knee. She locks in her Fujiwar armbar. Taya makes it to the ropes, but Deonna holds until five.
Taya gets back in the game and hits a big time sit-out powerbomb. Soon enough, Taya hits her Road To Vallhalla and gets the three count.

Also on the card, the Knockouts Tag Team Champions were at stake on the Countdown to Rebellion pre-show. The Influence defended against The IInspiration. In the end, Madison Rayne and Tenille Dashwood hit the Idolizer followed by the Collab to neutralize Cassie Lee for the pinfall.
In addition, Tasha Steelz raised her Knockouts Championship on the line against Rosemary. Savannah Evans accompanied Steelz while Havok arrived by Rosemary’s side. Havok eventually became ejected from ringside, leaving Rosemary at a disadvantage.
With the referee distracted by Steelz holding her championship, Evans managed to hit a boot to Rosemary’s face out of the referee’s vision. Rosemary battled her way back into the match, even spraying Steelz and Evans with a green mist. In the end, Tasha landed a successful cutter to land the pinfall and retain the IMPACT Knockouts Championship.

New Warrior Wrestling Women’s Champion Crowned
A new Warrior Wrestling Women’s Champion was crowned last weekend at the promotion’s 21st show.
After now-former champion Thunder Rosa won the AEW Women’s World Championship, the Warrior Wrestling Women’s Championship went vacant when Rosa relinquished it. Then, three women vied for the prestigious championship over the weekend in order to crown a new champion. Athena, Shazza McKenzie and Skye Blue battled for the gold in a highly competitive triple threat matchup. In the end, Athena landed an Eclipse on McKenzie to claim the victory and the title.
Athena now becomes the fourth woman overall to hold the Warrior Wrestling Women’s Championship, and this marks her first taste at gold since returning to the independent wrestling scene.
