Triple H Points To ‘The Tonight Show’ As Proof That WWE Is Still Making New Stars

Roman Reigns and Becky Lynch have become household names for WWE, according to Triple H.

Triple H recently sat down with Chris Vannini of The Athletic to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about the perception that Vince McMahon is having trouble creating new main event stars for the company, Triple H pointed to The Tonight Show as proof that the company is still creating new stars in 2022.

“Three years ago, ‘The Tonight Show’ would call and want a guest and ask for Triple H or The Undertaker or (John) Cena,” Triple H said. “There was a year I couldn’t make it work, and I asked them to pick Roman or Braun (Strowman). They weren’t interested. … Now Roman is on that show on his own. It takes time. You’re building stars. It’s not like flash-in-the-pan stars where this guy’s hot in boxing today and six months later, no one remembers him.

“You’re trying to build generational stars that last. It takes time. It’s a slow and steady progression, and they’re getting there. Becky Lynch, Roman, they’re becoming household names.”

While it’s clear that Vince McMahon can still create new main event stars for WWE when he wants to, it might be best on trying to create several at a time like he did in the Attitude Era instead of one or two for a variety of reasons.
