Johnny Gargano: I’m Open To Facing Blake Christian In GCW, ‘All My Options Are Open Right Now’

Johnny Gargano is keeping his options open, and one potential path forward could be a match with Blake Christian.

“All Heart” called out Gargano and made it clear that he wants to have a match with him. The two men were briefly in NXT at the same time, when Christian was known as Trey Baxter. But WWE released “All Heart” before he could face “Johnny Wrestling.” Since then, Christian has been competing throughout the wrestling world for several promotions, including Game Changer Wrestling and IMPACT Wrestling.

During an interview with Mike Wexler, when asked about a potential match with Christian, Gargano made it clear that he’s open to the match if the fans want to see it. He also described how he’s had his eye on Christian for a long time.

“So Blake is a guy obviously I’ve known, he was in NXT for a bit as well,” said Gargano. “But Blake is a guy I’ve had my eye on for a very long time. I mean he’s an incredibly talented young man. And the fact that he uses the nickname, ‘All Heart’, which, I kinda had that nickname back in like 2005. But I mean I’m not gonna say anything. And his song is the Bomb Dot Com, which some people say sounds a lot like ‘Rebel Heart as well.

“But you know, not anything here or there, but he is a guy that I think is immensely talented. And if I come back and I do a few matches here and there on the indie scene, taking on Blake Christian in GCW, if the fans would like to see that, if you the fans would like to see me versus Blake Christian, let me know. I say all the time, and I do mean this, if you chant ‘Johnny Wrestling’, I will hear it. So you never know what could happen.”

Gargano also emphasized that he’s still trying to figure out what his next move is. He noted that he still has things he wants to do in WWE, but AEW, NJPW, and the independent scene are also compelling options.

“I mean all my options are open right now,” said Gargano. “I’m very open about that. I don’t know what I wanna do next. It’s one of those things where I’m kinda in a time period of my life where I’m figuring that out. I’m figuring out what my goal is, what lasting legacy I wanna leave. I do have a lot of unfulfilled things still in WWE that I do wanna accomplish. So there is WWE, there’s AEW, there’s New Japan, there’s doing a run on the indie scene. There’s a lot of things that I’m kinda debating working on right now. I don’t know when and I don’t where I’m gonna return, but I promise you, when I do, you all will know.”

Gargano is currently taking some time away from wrestling, as he and his wife, Candice LeRae recently welcomed their first child, Quill into the world together.
