Seth Rollins On AEW Wrestlers Mentioning WWE On TV: ‘It Reeks Of Desperation’

Seth Rollins is one of WWE’s top stars; as a former WWE and Universal Champion, among many other accolades, he has firmly cemented his status as a main-eventer. “The Visionary” has been a WWE mainstay for the past several years, but he has watched many wrestlers come and go. Plenty of ex-WWE stars, including Rollins’ former stablemate Jon Moxley, have gone on to sign with All Elite Wrestling, a company that continues to prove itself as a genuine alternative for wrestling fans.

Throughout AEW’s early years, the wrestling world has focused on the unofficial war between the promotions. This rivalry has spilled onto TV several times, as AEW wrestlers, especially those who used to work for Vince McMahon’s promotion, have referenced WWE.

Speaking with Jimmy Traina on the SI Media Podcast, Rollins shared his belief that doing so is “very tacky.” He also stated that it “reeks of desperation.” By contrast, he noted that WWE stars don’t have to talk down about AEW because it would be a step down.

“They can do whatever they want. I find it very tacky and very low brow, personally. I think it looks and reeks of desperation. I just don’t think it’s anything on our television show that we need to go there and talk down about those guys.

“They’re doing their thing. They’re doing it very well. We’re happy for them. I am, at least, personally. Are they on our level? No. They’ve got a long way to go to catch up to us. And that’s fine. And they know that. And I think they do things differently. But for me, my perspective, I think it’s just a step down for us to use it as insult, so that’s my perspective on it. People may not share that opinion.”
