IMPACT Wrestling star Deonna Purrazzo has made it clear that she wants to defend her Ring of Honor Women’s World Championship at ROH Supercard of Honor, but her status for the show hasn’t been decided yet.
ROH Supercard of Honor will be held on April 1, the same night as IMPACT’s “Multiverse of Matches” show, where Purrazzo is already scheduled to compete. Tony Khan, the new owner of ROH, has been announcing some matches for the card, but “The Virtuosa” hasn’t been advertised yet.
During an appearance on STRONG STYLE on John Rocha’s YouTube channel, when asked whether Purrazzo will be at Supercard of Honor, Khan explained that ROH previously booked her title win and the date of the show long before he acquired the company. He stated that he’s still talking to IMPACT Executive Vice President Scott D’Amore about the situation, given the overlapping shows.
“They scheduled a show, so when Deonna won the Ring of Honor Title, when they booked the match, I did not have an agreement in place to buy Ring of Honor yet and was not booking the matches,” said Khan. “It’s not necessarily with them having a show the night of our pay-per-view, I don’t know how it’s gonna work out. So Scott and I are still talking about that because I completely respect their position. They have an event that night too.
“I question the wisdom at the time maybe of doing a match where there was a possibility of somebody taking the belt to another company that was running a show the very same night. But again now I’m doing the booking. So we’ll see how that shakes out.”
Khan went on to emphasize that he would “love” to have Purrazzo defend her title at Supercard of Honor, and he’s hopeful the two companies will reach an agreement. That being said, he also noted that he doesn’t want to put the champion in an unideal position by wrestling twice on the same night, though this outcome is a possibility.
“I would love to have Deonna here in Ring of Honor and I think it would be great if she can come and defend the title and we can work it out because I think they have their own show that night,” said Khan. “So I don’t want to put her in a tough position where she has to wrestle twice in the span of a few hours, but that could happen. So Scott and I are still talking about how it’s gonna work.”
Khan recently added another match to the card for Supercard of Honor; Josh Woods will defend the ROH Pure Championship against Wheeler Yuta.
