Big E Opens Up About Past Battle With Depression; Commends College Football Star For Retiring To Focus On Mental Health

Even facing severe injury Big E has been a bright light for the world of professional wrestling. The former WWE Champion suffered a broken neck on the 3/11 episode of Friday Night SmackDown and kept the positive outlook after receiving the news and in turn, kept concerned family, friends and fans at ease. Big E, however, has not been impervious to negativity and E shared a revealing story on 3/21 after watching an interview with current Ohio State University linebacker Harry Miller, who decided to retire from the game as he deals with mental health. E has previously been open about his depression but shared a story on Twitter in hopes to show many that they aren’t the only ones aiming to break the stigma of mental health.

“In my early 20s, I wanted to be famous so that when I committed suicide, someone would care. I never thought I could be free of the shear weight of my depression but here I am—alive and truly happy. Proud of you, Harry Miller,” Big E Tweeted. You can see Big E’s Tweet and the extremely touching segment with Harry Miller below.

Big E revealed the relieving news that he has no spinal damage and that no surgery will be required in his road to recovery.
