Thunder Rosa came up short against Britt Baker at AEW Revolution, but “La Mera Mera” has earned another shot at the gold.
On the March 9 episode of AEW Dynamite, Rosa faced “Legit” Leyla Hirsch in a match where the winner would earn the right to challenge Baker for the AEW Women’s World Championship the following week. Hirsch threw everything she had at Rosa, but the fan-favorite fought with the heart of a lion and showcased her fighting spirit. Hirsch tried to cheat by grabbing a spare turnbuckle, but Red Velvet stopped her. In the end, “La Mera Mera” picked up the win to clinch a rematch with Baker.

The interference of Rebel and Jamie Hayter helped Baker defeat Rosa at Revolution. Baker and Rosa previously competed in an Unsanctioned Lights Out Match on the special “St. Patrick’s Day Slam” edition of AEW Dynamite last year, so it’s quite fitting that she’ll challenge Baker on the same edition of the show this year. Tony Schiavone subsequently announced that the bout will be a Steel Cage Match.
