Corey Graves Would Love To Mix It Up One More Time With Seth Rollins

Corey Graves has said he’s not rushing to get back in the ring, but he does have one name in mind if he was to ever compete again.

Corey Graves appeared on 100.7 Star’s Bubba Show and spoke about the news that he’s been medically cleared for a return to in-ring competition.

“Yeah that was quite the revelation. It’s funny it took as long as it did for the news to break, especially in the wrestling business. Usually, before it happens, somebody finds out,” Graves noted.

“I actually got myself cleared right after WrestleMania last year. It was just sort of a “what if.” It’s a question that’s been eating at me, I made it so far, I made it right to the point where I was NXT Tag Team Champion, I was touring and doing live events with the main roster, with RAW and SmackDown. And it felt like my debut was gonna be imminent,” graves explained, “and then I got hurt, and it all went away.”

Graves noted that there weren’t any concrete plans for his main roster debut, but it seemed like a sure thing at the time. After he had to retire, he said he focused on being a commentator and went all-in on it.

“I went and saw some doctors, I went down to Florida, I saw some doctors here in Pittsburgh, and they have me a clean bill of health. And basically said I’m medically cleared, not saying they suggest or they recommend,” he pointed out, “but I can likely get through a match without ending up with serious damage.”

Graves has gone on record in past interviews and said he’s not rushing back to the ring even though he’s cleared, and he might make an occasional in-ring if there’s something worth doing. Graves says that he’s happy with his current role in WWE, but did have a few names in mind if he ever got to chance to square off with them.

“Right now in the immediate wake of his show, I would say Pat McAfee because I wanna smack McAfee in the mouth. ‘Battle for the ‘Burg’ on the grandest stage of them all,” Graves said. “Seth Rollins, just because he’s a guy that I always had great chemistry with in the ring in NXT. But he has just continued to get better and better and better, and is doing some of the best work of his career right now. While he may not be WWE Champion, what he brings every night in this new persona with the dancing and he’s so obnoxious, he’s under everybody’s skin, I love what Rollins is doing. I would love to mix it up with him one more time.”
