WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is reportedly expected to be featured in some capacity at WWE WrestleMania 38.
In recent months, McMahon has frequently appeared on WWE RAW, as he has somewhat mentored young star Austin Theory. But a new report suggests that the chairman will have a prominent part at the company’s biggest show of the year.
John Pollock of POST Wrestling reported the news on February 25. He wrote that McMahon is “expected to launch a program” with SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee, and this storyline would include WrestleMania 38.
Pollock also stated that a knowledgeable source told POST that McMahon’s involvement would “most likely” be billed as a match.
This report came just minutes after WWE announced that McMahon would appear on “The Pat McAfee Show” on March 3.
McMahon hasn’t competed in the ring since WrestleMania 26 in 2010, where he faced Bret Hart in a No Holds Barred match. McAfee has only wrestled twice on WWE TV; he lost to Adam Cole at NXT TakeOver XXX and came up short at NXT TakeOver: WarGames, when his team battled the Undisputed Era.
