Report: Drake Maverick Back With WWE, Working For RAW Creative Team

Drake Maverick is returning to the world of WWE, as PWInsider is reporting that Maverick is now working behind the scenes for the RAW creative team.

According to the report, Maverick — real name James Curtin — began working with the company again three or four weeks ago. Fightful Select has confirmed the news and noted that Maverick began his role with the creative team before his non-compete clause expired following his release on November 18, 2021.

Maverick has been released by WWE twice in recent years; first, the company left him go during a round of releases in April 2020, but WWE brought him back as part of a storyline. Then, on November 18, 2021, the promotion released him again due to budget cuts.

The former Rockstar Spud came into NXT as the general manager of 205 live leading up to WrestleMania 34 in 2018. Eventually, he would be brought on as the manager for the Authors Of Pain, and eventually he found success chasing the WWE 24/7 Championship, which he won seven separate times.

During his many appearances in the ring and on camera, he would often play a comedy role; he memorably peed himself when he was the manager of the Authors of Pain. Later, he comically got pinned by R-Truth during his wedding so that he would not be able to consummate his marriage with his wife, Renee Michelle.
