WWE Champion Brock Lesnar continues to settle into his role as a babyface; in doing so, he’s showing fans a whole new side of himself.
For years, “The Beast Incarnate” has been booked like a monster feel, but over the past few months, Lesnar has been cracking jokes and smiling on a regular basis.
During an appearance on Out of Character with Ryan Satin, Shelton Benjamin, who has been close friends with Lesnar dating back to their college days, offered some insight into the powerhouse’s character and his real personality. “The Gold Standard” explained that Lesnar’s current presentation is similar to his genuine personality, at least among his friends.
“I would say it’s the most like he is in real life amongst people that he likes,” said Benjamin. “Because I tell people all the time, one of the cool things about Brock is you never have to wonder where you stand with him. Because he’ll tell you, he’ll show you, he either wants nothing to do with you, or you’re good friends, you know. So what you’re seeing to me is just Brock when he’s relaxed and amongst friends.”
That being said, Benjamin also made it clear that the “monster” version of Brock, in some ways, was also realistic because it showcased the superstar’s “commanding presence,” among other traits. Now, while fans can see Lesnar in a fresh light, that some monster is lurking beneath.
“But what you’ve seen from Brock for years, you’re basically seeing another honest side of Brock,” said Benjamin. “Because what you’ve seen for the last 20-some year, no that’s not acting. That’s Brock, that’s Brock in the ring and outside of the ring. The same sort of confidence, commanding presence, commanding attitude, everything, that’s Brock. Period, like he’s not playing a role.
“He’s not playing situations, he’s just going out there and being himself. But what he is, he’s a monster. You know what I’m saying, you’re just being allowed to see okay well, this is the monster when he’s amongst [friends].”
