Tony Nese Would Like To Team With Trent In AEW, Discusses Potential Reunion With Ariya Daivari

Tony Nese is enjoying his current run in All Elite Wrestling, but he hasn’t forgotten the friends he’s made along the way.

In a recent interview with Wrestling Headlines, Nese spoke about his relationship with some of those superstars that he’s previously worked with, including Trent, who Nese says he’d love to work with if he needed a tag team partner.

“I would say right now a good one that I would love to do again, is Trent Beretta,” Nese said. “Probably almost no one knows this but me and Trent were a tag team before he went to WWE. Interesting. He was Plasma. And I was Maverick. I don’t I don’t know why. We teamed up for a while. He was probably one of the first people I clicked with as a tag team. We kind of had the same style and the same ideas and the same…you know, we love watching the same stuff, studying the same stuff, because like, we kind of trained together. And then when I started training, we kind of linked up and I would always go to his house and we’d watch like Hardy boy tapes and stuff like that. And like, yeah, we loved all that stuff. So so he would be fun to partner up with again.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Nese also spoke about his friendship with Ariya Daivari, and teased that he would “love” to continue working with the superstar in All Elite Wrestling.

“During the last like year of us being in WWE we teamed a lot together,” said Nese. “We helped keep each other safe, sane, just kind of sticking together and stuff. So he’s become like my best friend. So he’d be I would love to continue teaming with. They actually have him going in another direction with someone else right now so so I guess I’ll have to ask Trent if he wants to be my partner.”

After his release from WWE, Ariya Daivari spoke with WrestleZone about a possible reunion with Nese and looked back on their WWE run together with fond memories.

“To be honest, one thing that I really want to put out there is just continuing to tag team with Tony Nese. I feel like we were on the cusp of greatness, you know? We were ready to go full boar with it and unfortunately, the timing didn’t work out so we definitely, me and Tony have kind of kept our eye on the tag team scene a lot more. Obviously, there’s really good teams in every company right now so hopefully, that’s something that me and Tony can do,” Daivari explained, “is step into the tag team light a little bit bigger together.”
