WWE taped a second episode of SmackDown on February 11 due to the Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia on February 19. In one of the main matches on the show, as previously announced, Sami Zayn challenged Shinsuke Nakamura for his WWE Intercontinental Championship. Zayn emerged victorious, and WWE spoiled the outcome on its official website:

This victory kicks Zayn’s third reign with the title. He earned the right to challenge for the championship by winning the 12 Days of Christmas Gauntlet Match on the Christmas Eve edition of SmackDown December. Nakamura previously won the gold on the August 13 episode of SmackDown.
