Lita: AEW Wasn’t The Right Fit For Me Right Now, WWE Has Been My Home For 20 Years

WWE Hall of Famer Lita is back in the spotlight; the four-time WWE Women’s Champion will challenge Becky Lynch for the RAW Women’s Championship at Elimination Chamber on February 19.

But with a recent report suggesting that All Elite Wrestling had been interested in bringing the legend in, it’s fair to ask the question, “What if?”

In an interview with Esquire Middle East, Lita praised AEW and the way it’s generating a lot of buzz. Bt she also made it clear that, when she thought about what the promotion could offer her, she realized that she could enjoy the same things at WWE,  which has been her home for over 20 years. She also emphasized that she supports AEW, but at the end of the day, it “the right fit” at this point in time.

“AEW is doing exciting stuff,” said Lita. “It’s brought new life in the industry. Any time there’s competition, it’s good. It revives the industry. When they reached out to me, I did consider it. I said, we can talk, I’m interested, you guys are doing some interesting stuff. But ultimately, upon talking to them, it just made me say to myself, ‘but I have all of these things already!’

“I have those things with my home that I’ve known for 20 years, with the people that I’ve worked with for 20 years. Basically, I gave them my blessing. I said, I will watch you and I support you. And I want you guys to do great, but this just doesn’t feel like the right fit for me right now.”

Moving forward, WWE fans can enjoy the fact that Lita chose to stay “home” and look forward to her clash with Lynch.
