Report: WWE Planning Two Major Matches For WrestleMania 39

WWE is currently gearing up for WrestleMania 38, but the company is already planning for the following year’s edition of “The Showcase of the Immortals.”

In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE is planning to feature Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson vs. Roman Reigns and Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey as the two major matches. Meltzer pointed out that “a million things may happen between then and now”, given the constant state of change within WWE and potential complications with Johnson’s filming schedule. But he reported that, at the very least, Ronda is signed through WrestleMania 39. As a result, it’s fair to expect that she’ll be involved in a high-profile match at the show.

“The Baddest Woman on the Planet” recently returned to WWE, as she was a surprise entrant in the Women’s Royal Rumble match, which she went on to win, at the premium live event on January 29. Rousey will pick her WrestleMania 38 opponent Friday night on SmakckDown. Given her history with Lynch, many fans expect Rousey to choose “Big Time Becks” but the company is reportedly having this match for the following year.

As for Johnson, he hasn’t wrestled since his brief match at WrestleMania 32. For years, fans have been speculating that he’ll come back to face Reigns, but the timing hasn’t lined up. Based on Meltzer’s report, it seems like WWE is hopeful that the stars will align for this dream match at WrestleMania 39, which is fittingly being billed as WrestleMania Hollywood.

WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
