Cesaro Comments On Being Left Out Of WWE Royal Rumble, Hopes To Get More Promo Time

Cesaro remains one of the most underrated stars on WWE’s roster, as his in-ring skills are second to none. Still, the renowned performer has never won a world championship in WWE, and his 2021 run in SmackDown’s main event scene was short-lived. Many fans have often wished that WWE would give Cesaro more chances to shine, but his booking remains the source of criticism.

This pattern continued at WWE Royal Rumble, as “The Swiss Cyborg” was entirely left out of the 30-man battle royal entirely, an omission that disappointed many of his fans.

In an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Cesaro admitted that he shared this disappointment. He acknowledged the WWE Universe’s support, and he also brought up the way Big E previously shared his hope that “The Swiss Superman” would win the Royal Rumble. But unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be.

“Yes, I was [disappointed],” Cesaro said. “A lot of people would have liked to see me in the Rumble, and a lot of people would have liked to see me win. That would have put me on the next path of my journey. I saw Big E say in an interview he’d like to see me win, and that was very nice. I appreciate the support of my colleagues, but unfortunately, that did not happen.”

Over the years, fans have pointed to Cesaro’s lack of promo time as a primary reason why he hasn’t reached the next level. In the interview, the former WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion described how having the chance to consistently express himself would be helpful.

“That would add depth and character to my stories,” said Cesaro. “It would help a lot, and I think that goes for a lot of people, who would benefit from a little talking here and there to show their personality and skill on the mic. It just needs to be consistent.”

At the end of the day, Cesaro is focused on what he can control — showcasing his excellent in-ring skills and maintaining his “super-high” standard.

“It’s an unrelenting pursuit of excellence,” said Cesaro. “That’s the only thing that I can control. I don’t get a lot of mike time or interview time, but every time I step through the curtain and get in that ring, you will get that super high standard I set for myself. I will accept nothing less in the ring.”

Time will tell what the future holds for Cesaro, but at the very least, he remains a fan-favorite star, and viewers can always expect him to deliver remarkable matches on any given night.
