Juice Robinson is a free agent, as his contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling has reportedly expired.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that Robinson’s deal with the company was set to end on January 31, and the date came and went without a new deal. Ross Sapp notes that Fightful hasn’t heard anything about Robinson potentially re-signing with the company or heading elsewhere. The former IWGP Tag Team Championship has been competing on NJPW’s stateside shows and its STRONG brand.
He hasn’t competed in Japan since last March; instead, in addition to his work with NJPW STRONG, he has also been featured on IMPACT Wrestling in recent months, but Ross Sapp stated that he hasn’t heard any updates on this front.
Robinson debuted in NJPW in 2015 after he left WWE and worked his way up the card. He went on to win the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship twice, and he held the IWGP Tag Team Championship with David Finlay. The duo won the World Tag League in 2019.
Robinson previously addressed his looming free agency in an interview with Sports Illustrated in November 2021; he teased his goal to spread his wings and fly, and Robinson also noted that, with the current landscape, “it’s a great time in wrestling to show up anywhere.
