WWE Royal Rumble delivered plenty of highlights, but one special moment stood apart from the rest.
During the 30-woman battle royal, former Riott Squad members Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan emotionally reunited on-screen for the first time in well over a year. WWE released Logan in a cost-cutting move on April 15, 2020, and she later announced that she’d be stepping away from wrestling.
But she was back in the spotlight on Saturday, as she entered the Royal Rumble match. Morgan, who was an active competitor in the bout, was clearly overcome by emotion when she saw her friend. Logan’s time in the bout was fairly brief, but it was remarkable because it delivered the partial Riott Squad reunion many fans have been waiting for.
In a WWE Digital Exclusive, Logan shared her thoughts on her joyful return. She noted that having her son and her husband backstage made it an unforgettable night.
“The reaction I got when I walked out, like coming back from the match and having my son and my husband be there, like it is, I can’t even tell y’all,” said Logan. “I’m over the moon, my heart is full.”
At this point in the interview, Morgan ran in and hugged Logan, who told her, “You did good by yourself, you’re better than we ever were.”
When asked what it felt like to share the ring with Morgan again, Logan stated that it was a “perfect” moment because it was so genuine.
“That is a moment that I wanna remember forever,” said Logan. “Like I’ll never be able to recreate that moment if I try. Like it was so raw and pure, and the crowd knew exactly what we were doing. It was perfect.”
Likewise, Morgan, with tears in her eyes, emphasized that she was happy to see Logan because she has missed her quite a lot. She hinted that being without her Riott Squad stablemates Logan and Ruby Riott (now known as Ruby Soho) hasn’t been easy, but this challenge made the former’s return even more meaningful.
“I’m so happy to see her, so, so so, so happy to see her,” said Morgan. “I miss her so much. I’ve been by myself all year, you know, and I’ve been trying to do my thing, but I miss my friend so, so, so much. To hear her music and to see her come out, I love that moment more than anything that I’ve done all year.”
