Ronda Rousey is officially back; “The Baddest Woman on the Planet” returned at WWE Royal Rumble and won the 30-woman battle royal; in doing so, she punched her ticket to WrestleMania.
After the match, in a WWE Digital Exclusive, the former WWE RAW Women’s Champion shared her immediate reaction. When told that her return was quite a “statement,” she made it clear that’s exactly what she was going for.
“Yeah, it is,” said Rousey. “I mean, it’s the statement I meant to make, and I don’t know, that wasn’t a question at all. That was a statement.”
Rousey then described her short-term plan to spend some time with her baby because her priorities have changed since the last time fans saw her. As for her decision to return on Saturday, Rousey described how she’s always wanted to win a Royal Rumble, so it was the perfect night to come back.
“Because it’s the Royal Rumble, and I’ve always wanted to come out and win the Royal Rumble,” said Rousey. “What do you mean, why tonight? What other night would be better?”
Finally, as a general tease, Rousey stated that she won’t “fall for” the fans’ positive reaction this time and noted that she’ll be on WWE RAW.
“There was quite a reaction tonight, and you can expect me not to fall for it this time,” said Rousey. “I’ll see you guys on Monday.”
In a tweet the following day, Rousey revealed that she always planned to return at WWE Royal Rumble, dating back to the day she learned the due date of her baby. She also told everyone to “watch out” because she’s only four months removed from the baby’s delivery, so she’s still getting back in shape.
Since the day I knew my due date to have Pō, I was determined to return to @WWE at #RoyalRumble 4 months postpartum – Watch out bitches, cause #WrestleMania I’ll be 8 #ThisIsntEvenMyFinalForm pic.twitter.com/yb66fyK1bB
