Christian Slater has joined the cast of John Cena‘s latest film.
According to Deadline, Slater joins John Cena and Alison Brie in the upcoming film ‘Freelance’. Described as an action-comedy, the film will follow special forces operator (Cena) who recently retired from the Army and looks to start a family. After years of being a stay-at-home father, he decides to get back in the game and become personal security for a famous female journalist (Brie), who lines up a big interview with a foreign dictator who possibly ordered an attack on Cena’s character in the past. After a military coup breaks out in the middle of the interview, the three are forced to pair up and survive the elements in order to escape.
Freelance has no official release date but began filming on January 17. Cena is set to star in Argyle and The Independent, which are both set to release later this year. He can also be seen in Peacemaker right now on HBO Max.
Cena says he might not make it to WrestleMania 38 this year because of his film schedule, but WWE will always be part of his life. Read more about why he says it’s a good conundrum to have at this link.
