Texas Deathmatch For The AEW World Championship Set For 2/9 AEW Dynamite

Hangman Page will defend his AEW Championship in two weeks in a Texas Deathmatch.

After returning from a prolonged absence due to an injury earlier this month, Lance Archer issued a challenge to Page during the January 26, 2022 episode of AEW Dynamite, which was its special “Beach Break” edition of the show. Not only will the match happen, but Archer also demanded that it be a Texas Deathmatch. This stipulation seemed to shock Page for a moment before he quickly agreed to the terms. Archer has a successful history with Texas Deathmatches; under the same stipulation, he defeated Jon Moxley on AEW Fyter Fest Night Two to win the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship.

The clash is set for the February 9 episode of AEW Dynamite. This bout marks Page’s first defense since January 5, when he defeated Bryan Danielson on the TBS debut of AEW Dynamite.

Since his return to the ring, Archer has been chasing after Page and his title. It began two weeks ago when “The Muderhawk Monster” brutally attacked Page, and continued last week, when Archer once again got into a staredown in the ring before a brawl broke out. Now, the two foes can finally settle things in the ring in what promises to be a brutal match.
