Erick Redbeard On His Reunion With Adam Scherr: ‘It Will Feel Like Home’

Erick Redbeard hasn’t teamed up with Adam Scherr in approximately six years, when they were still part of the Wyatt Family in WWE.

Needless to say, a lot has changed since 2016. WWE released both men in 2020 and 2021, respectively. Redbeard has returned to the ring, while he’s also venturing into the acting world. Likewise, Scherr has controlled his narrative, and he’s gradually reentering the wrestling world. Now, long after their last tag team bout, Redbeard and Scherr will reunite on January 22 at Northeast Wrestling’s Wrestlefest XXVI to face Bully Ray and nZo.

In an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Redbeard previewed this bout and highlighted Scherr’s impressive work ethic. He noted that sharing the ring with his former partner will feel like a trip down memory lane.

The last time we tagged together was in WWE in 2016,” said Redbeard. “So much has happened since then. He went on this main-event run, and I’m really happy and proud of everything he has accomplished. He’s someone with this never-quit attitude, and that’s something which doesn’t go unnoticed.

“It’s been quite a gap since we last teamed together, so there will be some nostalgia when we are back in the ring. We were on the road so much together, and it will feel like home when we get in the ring together.”

Looking back on the Wyatt Family, Rowan admitted that he had no idea the stable would reach the heights it did. When he first joined forces with Wyatt and the late Jon Huber, then known as Brodie Lee, he didn’t really know them. For this reason, he felt like a “third wheel” alongside the duo at first, though the pairing eventually clicked and the rest is history.

I had no idea whatsoever it would be that successful,” said Redbeard. “I wasn’t close with Jon [Brodie/Luke] or Windham [Bray Wyatt] beforehand. When it all came together, I was the third wheel, which ended up working great, and I really got into the character.”

The Wyatt Family ultimately became one of the most renowned stables in recent WWE history. Even after the faction broke up, Redbeard enjoyed some success in WWE; he held the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship twice prior to his release.
