IMPACT Knockouts World Champion Mickie James sees the positives in her Royal Rumble appearance, no matter what happens.
Mickie James recently described how her shocking return to WWE came together and during an appearance on Busted Open Radio, the veteran further discussed her upcoming participation in the Royal Rumble match. When asked how she’d feel if the company booked her for a brief appearance in the bout, James noted it was possible, but she’s confident that it’ll be a “monumental” night no matter what.
“You never know what to expect, right, like there’s always the potential for anything,” said James. “If it’s five minutes, I’ll make the best of the five minutes and make it awesome, you know. But I think it’s gonna be great. And I think no matter what happens, it’s still a pretty monumental thing to have done and to do that night, and it’s gonna be huge regardless.
“And I still think there’s gonna be some awesome surprises. And so I’m excited about being back for it and being asked back for it. And to even be in this position, because I think it’s important and I thought it’s really cool for them to still go back and show the love and respect for my career, no matter what, all things considered in that aspect.”
James also spoke about returning to WWE after her controversial release, and how she doesn’t want that to overshadow her accomplishments with the company.
“It was important for me to not have that incident be the thing,” said James. “I feel like I did some incredible work there at WWE and for whatever reason, it, you know, but that’s the thing is that door’s never really closed. And I just hated having that bad blood or having that weird, I just didn’t want that asterisk. You know what I mean? I’ve had all these cool matches and these cool moments, but it was overshadowed but this one thing, which sucked.
“And I’m glad it’s not gonna happen anymore. And it sucked, but it wasn’t like I was the only person it happened to. And I think that at the end of the day, my dream was always to have been there and to do all of these monumental things that I was able to do there. And I just didn’t want to be known for the other thing, you know. And this is something cool and different that, if it is the last thing, then it’s a pretty cool last thing.”
