Update: Rey Fenix Did Not Break His Arm, Suffered Bad Dislocation On 1/5 AEW Dynamite

Update: Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp and F4WOnline’s Bryan Alvarez are both reporting that Fenix did not break his arm. Alvarez said Fenix didn’t break his arm but still suffered a bad dislocation, while Sapp added that the Lucha Brother was at the hospital late into the night, but there was no fracture in his arm.

The main event of the January 5 episode of AEW Dynamite was bittersweet; Jurassic Express the AEW World Tag Team Championship, but Rey Fenix of the Lucha Brothers suffered an apparent injury during the bout.

Many fans expressed immediate concern after Luchasaurus slammed Fenix through a table, and the fan-favorite high-flyer clearly landed badly on his arm, as it bent the wrong way. The spot in question can be seen below. (Warning: it’s fairly graphic.)

Fenix quickly signaled for the referee, and medical officials promptly checked on him.

After the show, Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net and Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online both tweeted that it was believed that Fenix suffered a broken arm, and he was in the process of being taken to the hospital. In a separate report, Mike Johnson of PWInsider noted that “the belief” is that Fenix probably dislocated his elbow.

Fenix has battled injuries throughout his AEW career, but when he’s healthy, he’s an electric talent. Alongside Penta El Zero M, Fenix has won both the AEW and AAA World Tag Team Championship.

WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
