Tony Khan: Jade Cargill Is On The Most Dominant TV Run Since Goldberg, Ruby Soho Repeatedly Defies The Odds

Tony Khan feels like Jade Cargill is in the midst of an impressive run in her career, but Ruby Soho might be able to defy the odds one more time.

In an interview with Josh Martinez of Z100, Tony Khan hyped Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite and previewed the TBS Championship finals match between Ruby Soho and Jade Cargill. Khan put over how dominant Jade has been since her debut in AEW last year, then said fans haven’t seen anything like it since Goldberg ran through the competition in WCW nearly 25 years ago.

“Even before All Out, this rivalry between Jade Cargill and Thunder Rosa had existed, and last week, Jade Cargill, who’s been on this dominant run. Jade Cargill, probably the most dominant run, in my opinion, any wrestler in North America has been on on television since Bill Goldberg 25 years ago,” Khan declared before Martinez noted that it’s a bold claim.

“The most dominant run, and Jade Cargill is a dominant wrestler, but Ruby Soho has come in and defied the odds repeatedly. Ruby Soho has come in and won the Women’s Casino Battle Royale, taking out 20 other competitors. Of course she was there at the end battling it out with Thunder Rosa and a lot of people thought that could be the final for the TBS Championship tournament, but Jade’s been so dominant.”

Khan went on to talk about how ‘Legit’ Leyla Hirsch gave Cargill her first real test in singles action in AEW and how Hirsch has had a new attitude as of late, then said Jade still got out of the match with a win and it was notable.

“Since then, Jade’s been so dominant and what a match she had in the first round of the tournament, beating Red Velvet who had come out of the wild card round. What a year Red Velvet had in 2021, going back to Jade’s debut, teaming with Shaquille O’Neal against Cody [Rhodes] and Red Velvet on the “Crossroads” episode of Dynamite leading into Revolution,” Khan explained before moving on to talk about how Jade was truly tested last week against Thunder Rosa.

“That was the first time Jade was really in trouble. Jade against Leyla was a very tough match, but Jade was able to cleanly work her way out of the match and win the match without having to [resort] to do anything that resembled what Jade pulled last week.

“I’m really excited to see who will be the first TBS Champion ever, and it’s very fitting it’s here on the first Dynamite on TBS. And again, Ruby has grinded out all these matches, all these wins and defied the odds. And Jade has dominated,” Khan pointed out, “but we saw her leg got injured last week, and she really was again taken into the deep end by Thunder Rosa.”
