The Dynasty had a fairly brief run in Major League Wrestling, but with the success of its three core members, Richard Holliday, Alex Hammerstone, and MJF, it’s clear that the group has left an impressive mark on the wrestling world.
The trio aligned in February 2019, and each member went on to win gold in MLW. Holliday and MJF held the MLW World Tag Team Championship, and Hammerstone had a remarkable reign as the National Openweight Champion. MJF went on to sign with AEW, and he has become one of the most popular stars in wrestling today. Meanwhile, Holliday and Hammerstone continue to shine in MLW; Hammer is now the reigning MLW World Heavyweight Champion, and Holliday had a successful reign as the MLW Caribbean Heavyweight Championship. As all three men continue to reach new heights, The Dynasty’s legacy continues to grow.
During a recent appearance on Casual Conversations with The Classic, Holliday looked back on the stable and described how its promos helped The Dynasty get over, even more than its in-ring accomplishments. He then explained that the three men had dominant personalities, but they still gelled; “The Most Marketable” noted that they went together like “peanut butter, jelly and fluff.”
“Even though The Dynasty was a really short-lived entity, like in the grand scheme of things, like we had maybe a year run, people still talk about it to this day, and I think that we were one of the hottest things when that was happening,” said Holliday. “Just because of the promos that we were putting out. It wasn’t even so much what we were doing in the ring. We had all the gold, but it was what we were doing in the promos that was making people really gravitate towards us.
“And you know, most people didn’t think that it would work, you know, considering the fact that it’s three huge type A alpha male personalities, no, put the spotlight on me, I don’t wanna share it with you, type guys. But for some odd reason, like we were not oil and water all. Like we were peanut butter, jelly and fluff. And we were just killing it.”
Holliday elaborated by explaining that the group was “very cohesive”, the way a good sandwich should be, before he shared his belief that The Dynasty will go down in history.
“It was very cohesive, and it was a ton of fun, honestly,” said Holliday. “I mean it was really a moment in time. I think The Dynasty will live forever.”
Based on the way Holliday, Hammerstone and MJF continue to thrive, it’s hard to disagree.
