Sonya Deville On Her In-Ring Return: I’m Not In A Rush To Leave My Current Role

Sonya Deville has been having a blast in her role as a WWE Official, and she’s enjoying the opportunity to show a different side of herself.

in an interview with Brian Jones of PopCulture.com, Deville discussed the run she’s currently on and specifically named working with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon as a highlight of her career.

“Yeah that’s really cool,” said Deville. “Working with Vince lately has probably been my favorite thing in my career thus far. He’s just so knowledgeable and just so respectable to be around. And just to be in segments with him, I was like, ‘Oh my god’, like I don’t have many fangirl moments, but I was kind of freaking out. And he’s so cool, and we were in there for hours working on stuff, and he’s so helpful, and he’s always been supportive of my career and what I wanted to do.”

Deville noted that she has worked hard to imrpove in the role and do something that’s totally different from her initial run as an in-ring Superstar. She went on to explain that she’s having fun, and the WWE Official teased that there’s something “super exciting” in her character’s near future.

“I’m having so much fun and I feel like I’m growing and learning, I don’t feel stagnant,” said Deville. “And I feel like what’s to come in the near future is gonna be super exciting for the fans that have even following the journey of Sonya Deville.”

When asked about whether she misses competing in the ring on a regular basis, Deville made it clear that she’s not in a rush to leave her current role, and she’s just staying present.

“I’m a fighter born and raised, so obviously I love to fight and I love to throw down,” said Deville. “But a lot of people also don’t know, one of my first passions was acting and performing…. I’m just enjoying where I am. I’m not eager or in some sort of rush to be anywhere else. I feel really present in this moment and in this role.”

Deville returned to the ring on the December 10 episode of WWE SmackDown; she faced Naomi in a singles bout and lost via intentional countout. It’s unclear what her future holds as an in-ring competitor, but she continues to shine in her role as an on-screen authority.
