Xia Li Excited To Use SmackDown Debut To Help Introduce WWE Culture To The World

Xia Li will make history on Friday’s new episode of WWE SmackDown.

Xia Li will become the first Chinese-born athlete to compete on WWE’s blue brand, when she makes her long-awaited debut tonight. Li spoke with Shanghai Daily ahead of her debut, saying she’s excited to be able to share the WWE culture with the world.

“I’m extremely excited and a bit nervous about SmackDown, where I can share a stage with the best WWE stars and introduce WWE culture to the world.”

Li would then delve into how to explain WWE’s pre-determined outcomes and storylines to those who may not be familiar with the product.

“It’s entertainment, like a movie. That’s how I explained it to my parents when they watched my performance for the first time. My mother was in tears, so I had to comfort her – let her know that the results were planned and in fact I didn’t get hurt; I was just playing a character. My ultimate goal is to have my own title bout and become the first Chinese [Superstar] to win a WWE championship.”

WrestleZone will have complete coverage of tonight’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT.

On a related note, Asuka previously spoke about her own desire to use her platform as a WWE Superstar to educate people on Asian culture. Read more about how Asuka wants people to get to know her and learn about the wonderful cultures of Japanese people and Asians at this link.
