Malakai Black Explains How His ‘Aleister’ Era Was A Manic Episode Orchestrated By His Current Form

All Elite Wrestling’s Malakai Black has exploded in popularity since joining the company, with one of his weirdest attributes being his deteriorating eye. Speaking in a new interview with ComicBook.com, Black explained the origin and ideas behind his eye.

“A lot of people started really digging through my old stuff and really found a bunch of really cool creative things,” Black said. “They haven’t completely discovered everything that I’ve did already with Malakai or am doing as Malakai. But, one of the things that I can tell you is that when I released ‘The Devil Made Me Do It’ little movie, video trailer, teaser, whatever you want to call it.”

Black went on to say that the greater idea behind the character was that an entity known as Moloch or Malakai had forced the real-life superstar into having a five-year episode where he believed he was “Aleister Black,” the character he played in WWE.

“He had this episode, this manic episode, where actually it was Malakai who orchestrated all of this and through the injury in his eye was able to kind of like fracture apart in being able to manifest himself through the eye,” Black said. “That’s also why this thing on my face keeps growing and growing because he becomes stronger and stronger, and it reacts to certain events and certain happenings. So in a way, it’s a continuation, but at the same time, there’s a layer above the layers.”

While it’s still unclear exactly how the character arc of Malakai Black will end, but the superstar clearly has a plan for how things will go, and it’ll be interesting to see how the superstar’s path continues.
