CM Punk‘s heated rivalry with MJF continued on the December 8 episode of AEW Dynamite, and the former WWE Champion escalated the conflict by harshly criticizing MJF’s hometown and challenging the young star to a match.
On Wednesday night, in front of a loud Long Island crowd, Punk came out to MJF’s entrance, where he promptly began berating Long Island for not being as loud as Chicago was. Talking over the fans’ boos, Punk then revealed a t-shirt that had AEW’s four pillars on it, but MJF was replaced by Britt Baker. After he called MJF an “incel” that wasn’t even as good as Roddy Piper in “Hell Comes to Frogtown”, Punk said that while he’s been challenging his foe for two weeks now, Maxwell Jacob Friedman has continued to run away from the fight.
Punk went on to say that he wants to settle things with MJF in the ring, and doesn’t want to deal with the likes of The Pinnacle’s Shawn Spears or Wardlow or FTR. He then challenged MJF to a one-on-one match at a future date. In Punk’s words, instead of running away like people in Long Island do, he wants MJF to stand and fight, the way people in Chicago handle their business. “The Second City Saint” ended his message by saying that he would take on MJF at any place and in any way he wants.
