Austin Theory has been on a remarkable run since he arrived on WWE RAW earlier this fall.
Shortly after the red brand drafted him in October, the former NXT star hit the ground running on Monday nights; he defeated former world champions Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio to establish himself as a breakout star in the making. This rapid rise reached another level in November; he was revealed as the thief of Vince McMahon‘s Cleopatra egg, but the WWE Chairman rewarded the young Superstar with a match for the WWE Championship. Theory lost this bout, but the following week, he appeared alongside McMahon in several segments on WWE RAW.
This show-long arc culminated with the WWE Chairman slapping Theory in the face and telling him that he still has a lot to learn. Based on this outcome, it seems like Theory’s storyline with McMahon will continue.
During a recent appearance on WWE After The Bell, Theory shared his thoughts on working with McMahon by comparing him to a “wrestling god” and noting that being seen on WWE TV alongside the WWE Chairman is as big as it gets.
“I mean, it’s like when you think wrestling, and you think like ‘wrestling god’, like it’s Vince McMahon, you know,” said Theory. “And I think when I’m sitting there and I’m talking with him, it’s like wow, it doesn’t get bigger than this. Like and already, so I’m just like I don’t know. Even when I, I probably watched the video of getting slapped like a hundred times.”
When asked to describe what it felt like to get slapped by “The Boss”, Theory advised everyone that they’d be better off staying on McMahon’s good side and avoiding his hands.
“I would just say, just don’t upset Vince McMahon because yo, he’s got some hands, man,” said Theory.

When co-host Corey Graves wishes Theory well and expressed his confidence that the WWE star will find even more success moving forward, Theory thanked him and joked that he’ll have to steal some more Cleopatra eggs in order to do so.
“I might, you know, have to steal a couple more eggs on the way, I don’t know,” said Theory.
Hopefully, from here on out, the former NXT standout will find ways to thrive without relying on the riches associated with the controversial egg.
