AEW Dynamite Results (12/1/21)

Tonight on AEW Dynamite CM Punk takes on “The Pittsburgh Prodigy” Lee Moriarty, Bryan Danielson fights Alan Angels, and The Gunn Club battle Sting & Darby Allin!


AEW DYNAMITE

Commentary: Tony Schiavone & Excalibur

Excalibur and Tony Schiavone send their best wishes to Jim Ross as he continues his radiation treatment. Adam Hangman Page joins the duo on commentary.

MATCH 1
Alan Angels vs. Bryan Danielson

Bryan gets a single leg crab on the hometown Angels who makes it to the ropes. Massive boos for Danielson in Atlanta. Angels traps Danielson in the corner for some punches and chops. Danielson strikes back. He kicks 5 in the corner and hits a high running dropkick.  Danielson hits a butterfly suplex into a sitout armbar, but 5 makes it to the ropes. Shotgun dropkick through the ropes to the ring by Angels. He topes onto Danielson. Angels flips on top of Danielson to the outside. Back in the ring he hits a standing Spanish Fly for a near fall. He goes for a top rope moonsault and hits his running knee finisher. Danielson wags his finger and stomps on the shoulder of Angels. Hangman is not happy. Danielson finally locks in the kneebar and Angels taps.

WINNER: Bryan Danielson

Danielson runs down Atlanta’s intelligence to Tony Schiavone. He talks about potentially tearing Angels MCL and knocking out Colt Cabana’s teeth. Next week he’ll take on a Dark Order member from Long Island. Then he’ll take out Hangman Page at Winter is Coming. Hangman gets up from the booth but is stopped by John Silver who says that they know Hangman can’t touch Bryan until December 15 but he can. He runs down to fight BD, but Bryan bails and calls John a joke. Hangman challenges Danielson but says this city doesn’t deserve it and walks off.

We see a video package on Miro who is standing in front of complete white. He runs down his “God” before issuing a warning to everyone.

MATCH 2
Lee Moriarty vs. CM Punk

Lee comes out first, but as Punk is about to get in the ring, out comes MJF in a Hanakuah suit. Max joins commentary and accuses Punk of drinking. He says “CM” stands for “cooking meth.” Bell ings and the two fighters lock up.  The two men get to the ground game. Max runs down Punk for struggling against a “rookie.” Punk shoulder thrusts against Lee Moriarty in the corner. Punk catches Lee with a calf kick. Diving lariat from the ropes and we go to pic-in-pic break.

Back from it, Lee fires back with some lariats, kicks and a suplex for a near fall. Punk tries to recuperate. “CM Punk” chant. Punk in the corner kicks Lee and he leaps off in the corner with a cross body, but Lee rolls him over for a pin attempt. Punk kicks out but Lee trnasitions it into a crossface. After a good amount of time, Punk gets the rope break. He puts Lee on the top rope and palm strikes Lee. Frankensteiner from up top, but Lee reverses for a pin attempt. Several pin attampes are exchanged and Punk roundhouse kicks Moriarty. Punk misses his rip chord clothesline and Lee nails his own and gets him for a very near fall. Punk takes an offensive Lee and hits his GTS for the W.

WINNER: CM Punk

MJF gets on the mic and says for the back to cut Punk’s music. MJF says he’s proud of Punk. It takes a lot of balls to say he’s the best in the world when he’s struggling to beat QT Marshall and Lee Moriarty. He says the only thing he’s the best at is trying to get in Britt Baker’s pants. He calls Punk “one pump chump.” Punk grabs the mic. He says he’s wearing Larry David’s pajamas. MJF can talk all they want but the fact is that they’re better than MJF and he knows it.  He says for Max to bring his needle dick into the ring and he’ll kick his ass all the way back to Long Island. MJF says he’s the spark Punk needs back since 2011. Next week he’ll win the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal next week in New York. He’s going to better than Piper in Portland, he’s going to be better than Bret in Canada and he’s going to be better than Punk in Chicago. MJF threatens to put his dog Larry to sleep. That prompts Punk to pursue but Wardlow steps in. For her upcoming match.

Britt Baker is upset with Tony Khan after facing Riho on Rampage. Jamie Hayter wasn’t at the Friendsgiving last week because she was wrestling Thunder Rosa which Britt notes Hayter lost. Hayter notes Britt lost to Thunder Rosa before and a bit of tension there. Next week Britt says Hayter will be facing Riho.

After the break, out comes Adam Cole. He does his whole entrance before going back to the booth to join commentary. Pretty contentious between he and Schiavone. Orange Cassidy comes out as he gets cheap shotted by the Bucks and Cole.

MATCH 3
AC Adams vs. Wardlow

Obviously, Wardlow is dominant. He hits four powerbombs. Even Shawn Spears tries to stop him. Wardlow covers. 1-2-3.

WINNER: Wardlow

Post-match, Spears has a change of heart and smacks Adams with his chair.

Tony Schiavone is with PAC and Penta. PAC has an eye patch on while Penta takes exception to them hurting his brother Rey (who is unable to travel). It will be PAC and he in action this Friday on Rampage and PAC assures the world he’ll be okay to go with one eye.

MATCH 4
The Gunn Club (with Austin Gunn) vs. Darby Allin & Sting

Team Taz is at the booth as Sting and Darby come out to face Billy & Colten Gunn.  Sting has skull-like facepaint akin to Darby. The bell ringsand it’s Darby vs. Colten. Darby has Colten’s number with arm drags and takedowns. Colten tags in Billy while Darby tags in Sting. The two vets stare one another down. Sting strikes away at Billy. Manhattan drop as Billy stumbles into the corner. Stinger splash attempt but Billy bails. Colten gets sent in as Sting attacks and Darby tags in. Billy hits the One and Only on Darby. Billy stares at Sting. Boos from ATL.

Colten strikes Darby and gloats. He throws Darby in the corner and tags in his dad. We go to pic-in-pic break.

Back from it, we see Colten lock Darby in a Scorpion Deathlock. Darby is busted open on the top of his head. Hot tag to Sting. Lariats to both foes. Stinger splash to them both as well in opposite corners. Spinebuster to Colten. Scorpion Deathlock. Aubrey stops Billy from coming in, but Austin comes in to slug Sting. Darby topes Austin. Fame Asser to Stinger. Colten covers: 1-2- kickout. Darby dives onto Billy. Darby hits a stunner to Colten who stumbles right into a Scorpion Death Drop. 1-2-3.

WINNERS: Darby Allin & Sting

Chris Jericho wasn’t out on Rampage to help Eddie Kingston. He was their to take out 2point0 and Daniel Garcia. Sure enough he gets attacked by the trio and then takes a chair shot against a garage door wall.

Taz stakes Team Taz’s claim for the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal. Taz says they have a 125% chance at retiring. Lio Rush doesn’t like that notion because he’s a fighter and he knows that he’s got a chance. Out comes Ricky Starks and Dante Martin who shrugs at Lio before joining Team Taz.

Jade Cargill is backstage with Mark Sterling. Sterling makes it known that she’ll be facing Thunder Rosa’s protege Janai Kai on Rampage. Thunder Rosa reveals that she’ll be on commentary for the match.

MATCH 5
TBS Championship Tournament Quarter-Finals
Kris Statlander vs. Ruby Soho

Taz is still on commentary as Ruby and Kris headlock it up.  Ruby goes for a backslide attempt. Ruby goes to close fist Kris, but stops in a moment of sportswomanship. Side headlock by Kris. Statlander boops Ruby instead of kicking her. Pin attempts are exchanged. Ruby goes to monkey flip Kris but Statlander handstands free. Ruby armdrags. She soon hits a flatliner for a two count.

Back from it, Ruby nails a leaping Senton, but soon Statlander turns the tide for a Blue Thunder Bomb. Two count. Statlander locks in a standing crab submission, Ruby powers up but gets a turnbuckle powerbomb. Sit-out bomb by Statlander for a two count.

Ruby goes to headscissors Statlander with a poison rana and then a rana from the knees. Great move, but it only gets a two count. “A-E-Dub” chants.  Ruby goes for a No Future kick, but Statlander tries to turn it into the Big Bang Theory driver. Ruby rolls her up for the 1-2-3 and she advances!

WINNER and ADVANCING in the TBS Title Tournament: Ruby Soho

Post-match, Ruby and Statlander shake hands and embraces. Out comes Vickie Guerrero confronting Statlander on the entryway. Nyla Rose comes in and pulls Ruby off the top turnbuckle as she crashes to the mat.

MAIN EVENT
Atlanta Street Fight
Andrade El Idolo (with Jose The Assistant) vs. Cody Rhodes (with Arn Anderson)

El Idolo enters with a big dagger and Jose has “plunder” with them as well. Cody gets booed when he enters. Andrade attacks Cody on stage as Arn shoot falls off the stage. He seems to be okay as he and Jose brawl. Cody and Andrade fight in the crowd. Cody hits a standing moonsault. as he and Andrade brawl to ringside. Andrade flips over the steps and snake eyes Cody. T-Pain hands Cody a chair and the fight continues. Cody gets Andrade back in the ring and takes off his weightlifting belt. Andrade whips Cody with his belt and throws it in the crowd. Andrade cracks Cody with Jose’s laptop.

Andrade presents a chain as “we want tables” chants begin. Andrade shakes his head no before slamming Cody down and does a split-legged moonsault whie Cody has the chair on top of him. Two count. Cody is fired up and goes for a Cody Cutter, but Andrade dumps him out and we go to the final break of the evening.

Back from the break, Cody and Andrade are brawling on their feet. Cody nails Andrade with the chain. Big powerslam Bulldog style by Cody. Boos from the crowd. Cody goes for a tope and Andrade gets a chair up.

The mats get pulled up and Andrade goes for his Hangman’s DDT, but Cody flips him. Cody is busted open. He dismisses a kendo stick and a sledgehammer for a golden shovel. Jose comes out with a taser, but Cody smacks him with the shovel. Andrade dives on top of Cody over the ring post. “A-E-Dub” chants.

Andrade nails some running knees in the corner as Cody is wedged there with a chair on his face. Andrade covers for a two count.

Andrade pulls out a table and leans it in the corner. He hip toss counters Cody through the table. Another table gets pulled out. He puts Cody on the table but Cody fights him up top. Andrade headbutts Cody down, but Cody sweeps the leg. Brandi Rhodes comes out and puts lighter fluid on the table. The table is on fire as Cody hits a reverse DDT on Andrade through the table. Cody was on fire briefly as he covers: 1-2-3!

WINNER: Cody Rhodes
