Jay Lethal Added To AAA Mega Championship Match At Triplemania Regia

Jay Lethal has been added to the mix to compete for the vacant AAA Mega Championship at Triplemania Regia.

The event, set for December 4 in Monterrey, Mexico was originally slated to be headlined by Champion Kenny Omega defending his AAA Mega Title against El Hijo del Vikingo but Omega was forced to relinquish the title due to multiple injuries.

Lethal, who recently signed with AEW, will join a now multi-man matchup with the aforementioned Vikingo as well as Samuray del Sol (FKA Kalisto) for the vacant AAA Mega Championship.

AAA made the announcement on Twitter, which garnered Lethal’s reaction:

“My name is Jay Lethal. I am a six-time X-Division Champion. A two-time Ring of Honor World Champion, newly signed to AEW, and the next AAA Mega Champion. I have traveled the world for 19 years, 19 long years, perfecting professional wrestling. I have victories over guys like Kurt Angle and Ric Flair and now I have my sights set on the AAA Mega Championship. In fact, I’ve had my sights set on for a while because I’ve been watching ever since 2010, when Texano won it, I have waited. I have waited and waited and now it is finally here, my moment. Do I feel bad for Kenny Omega? Sure I do. But what’s bad for him is great for me, because this opportunity gives me a chance. A chance to add my name to a list full of passion, to add my name to a list full of legends, tie my name to history, tie my name to a list of guys like Dr. Wagner Jr, El Mesias, Texano Jr, Fenix, and Kenny Omega, and now, me. My name will be added to the list. I will add my name to the history of AAA forever. Because in Monterrey, Mexico, December 4, I will become the brand new AAA Mega Champion.”
