The Godfather Recalls A Royal Rumble Moment That Never Happened, His Experience In The Brawl For All

We almost saw all three faces of The Godfather in the same Royal Rumble match.

The Godfather appeared on this morning’s episode of The Bump to discuss his WWE career. When asked if the idea was ever brought up for The Godfather to appear multiple times in the Royal Rumble with his different characters like Mick Foley in 1998, The Godfather revealed that it had been discussed at one point:

“It was talked about, and then it was canceled at the last minute,” The Godfather said. “Yeah, I was going to come out — because of the hair thing — I think I was going to come out first as The Godfather, then cut my hair and come out as Kama, and then shave my head and come out as Papa Shango. Yeah, I forget what happened, but it was canceled at the last minute.”

Godfather also spoke about being in the first and only Brawl For All tournament:

“When I was called, they said would you want to be in these real fights? And I’m like, eh? They said you’ll make this much if you’re in it, you’ll make this much if you win, and I said, okay. And at that point, nothing else mattered,” The Godfather said. “It didn’t matter who I was fighting. I know that sounds weird. And I look back at it, and me and Bradshaw were talking about this a couple of days ago. I mean, you’re fighting the UFC champion of the world, and I’m not going to tell you what I was doing before the thing, but people that know me could imagine, but I mean, we talked about it in the episode, but I didn’t think about who I was fighting.”

When asked how he felt about actually throwing hands inside of a wrestling ring, The Godfather said he was okay with it:

“It was fine with me. I wasn’t part of the political side that has come up later in life,” The Godfather said. “I didn’t know anything about that. I was just out there making money having fun. I legitimately thought I was gonna win it just from being Biker Bear. I really thought I was gonna win it. And that’s probably why I didn’t, overconfidence and that type of stuff. But it’s funny that Bart got me and Bradshaw, and we’re kind of the only two people that survived that whole thing and actually became Hall of Famers.”
