Shayna Baszler: Moving To WWE SmackDown Is A ‘Restart’, I Want To Remind Everyone How Dangerous I Am

When Shayna Baszler arrived on the main roster, WWE quickly established her as a dominant fighter; shortly after her call-up,”The Queen of Spades” challenged WWE RAW Women’s Champion at WrestleMania 36. But after Lynch emerged victorious, Baszler struggled to rebound from this high-profile loss. At times, she got lost in the shuffle on the red brand.

Once she joined forces with Nia Jax, she enjoyed more success; the duo won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship twice. But now Baszler is entering a new chapter in her career; she is once again a singles competitor, and she moved to WWE SmackDown in the 2021 WWE Draft.

In an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling’s SP3, Baszler explained that it’s fitting to view her jump to WWE SmackDown as a “restart” because she’ll be facing new opponents, and she’ll be competing by herself, whereas she had been in a tag team for the last year-plus of her run on RAW.

“I’ve been on RAW the whole time I’ve been here, so going over to SmackDown, and there’s a new locker room, and there’s a whole crop of new talent, on top of like things personally in my career, like not in a tag team now, I’ve been in a tag team for a while, so it’s a good way to look at it is that it’s a restart,” said Baszler. “I mean obviously, the title is always a goal for anyone that is in this business. But I really just want to…it’s a restart, so I want to reestablish the fact that, title or not, it’s a dangerous time to be in the ring with me. And I think you know, I hadn’t been on a tag team really before, and now that I’m stepping away from that, so to speak, it’s a good time to remind people what I’m about, you know what I mean.”

The former NXT Women’s Champion then noted that she wants to remind everyone what she’s “about” as a force to be reckoned with inside the squared circle. She made it clear that she wants to leave a meaningful legacy behind, title or no title.

“And maybe even some people that didn’t see maybe my NXT run, to just even introduce them to what I’ve been about, you know what I mean,” said Baszler. “So there’s a lot of people and a lot of reasons to, I don’t know, I don’t know what word to put behind it, show, I don’t know leave a legacy? I don’t know, I don’t know how to explain it. But yeah, obviously the title, always at the top of the picture, but really it’s about like stamping my mark and letting people know what I’m about.”

Baszler will have the opportunity to keep leaving her mark at WWE Survivor Series and subsequently throughout her time on the blue brand.
