John Morrison Released By WWE

John Morrison has been released by WWE.

According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, John Morrison was released by WWE on Thursday, November 18. Budget cuts were cited as the reason for the latest round of releases, per an email sent to talent by John Laurinaitis.

Morrison was in his second stint with the company, re-signing with WWE in December 2019. He made his on-air return on the January 3, 2020 episode of SmackDown and remained paired with The Miz for most of his tenure with the company.

Morrison’s last match for WWE took place on the latest episode of WWE Main Event which was taped on Monday; it aired on Thursday. During Morrison’s last run with WWE, he and The Miz held the SmackDown Tag Team Championship once for 50 days, winning the titles from The New Day at WWE Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia in February 2020.

Morrison was one of eight performers released on Thursday evening. His wife, Taya Valkyrie (fka Franky Monet) was released by the company two weeks ago on November 4.
