Zelina Vega Didn’t Know About Her WWE Return ‘Until My Music Hit,’ Explains Her Issue With The News Getting Leaked

Zelina Vega is making the most of her latest run in WWE.

Zelina Vega recently appeared on Out Of Character with Ryan Satin and spoke about her second run with the company, which now includes a Queen’s Crown tournament win and a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship reign. Zelina was fired by the company on November 13, 2020, but ultimately made her return on the July 2, 2021 episode of SmackDown. Zelina spoke about when she knew she was returning to the company, noting how it changed and what she does (and doesn’t) remember about the lead to it.

“I always say I don’t really know until it actually happens, you know what I mean? Because you can know for a week or two and then it’s like, ‘actually we’re gonna move it to here’ or ‘we’re actually gonna move it to here.’ So I always say I didn’t really know until my music hit. Because you just never know. You never know. And it feels like all of a blur. I don’t even, was that June when that happened? July? That’s what I mean. I don’t even know days anymore. I don’t know months,” Vega said. “I don’t even know what month we’re in now. But I remember the moments, and I remember thinking as soon as my music hit, I’m like, ‘oh, they can’t take it back now. See ya!’

Zelina Vega also spoke about her return being leaked ahead of time, explaining that nothing was official yet when people first started talking about it. Zelina said she took issue with it getting out because it could have been a bigger deal, but people already knew about it ahead of time.

“What made it funny was that, at that time, when it came out, I wasn’t really back yet. Like it wasn’t really a thing yet. So I know that they were filming something for my husband so that’s initially what I was there for. So it made it funny because I was like ‘okay, this isn’t really even 100% yet. You’re all over here taking like it is, but then you don’t know the specifics and I can’t tell you the specifics so just shut up. Just stop.’ When it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be, if it’s meant to be. And like why take that away from the fans? Like I think that was one of my biggest issues with stuff like this,” Vega explained, “it’s like why ruin it and take moments away from the fans that are genuinely gonna be like a really cool moment instead of, ‘oh I read on the Internet that she was coming back anyway so whatever, it’s not even a big deal.’ You know, and I’m like yeah, I know, it’s not a huge deal when you already know about it.”

Zelina Vega and Carmella won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship on the November 22 episode of RAW, defeating Nikki A.S.H. and Rhea Ripley.
