Backstage Notes From 11/6 MLW War Chamber Taping In Philadelphia: CONTRA Unit, Jeff Cobb, New Producers

MLW War Chamber event was notable for many reasons, and now we have some more details about what did and didn’t go down in Philadelphia on Saturday night.

According to PWInsider.com, King Muertes was one of the participants slated to compete in the War Chamber, but last-minute cancellations by American Airlines caused him to miss the event. It was noted that MLW attempted to get him to the show but it was impossible to make it happen. Savio Vega was ultimately subbed in for the match since he was already on-site to be an agent at the event.

CONTRA Unit’s Josef Samuel was also not at the event, and it’s unclear why he was not present, but PWInsider was told it was not a travel issue. On a related note, CONTRA’s Jacob Fatu will be pushed as a babyface moving forward as a result of the end of the War Chamber match, while Mags Kruger is in line for a big monster heel push.

Jeff Cobb also entered the War Chamber match as Matanza Duran (a play on his Matanza Cueto persona from Lucha Underground) but didn’t work the match under the mask. It was noted that Cobb was physically uncomfortable working in the mask and attire, so they changed plans to accommodate.

As far as injuries go, nZo had a bloody nose in his match against Matt Cross and the Sea Stars’ Delmi Exo suffered a cut to her arm, but both were said to be OK after their respective matches.

Producers for the event included Konnan, Homicide, Savio Vega, Dave Prazak and Davey Richards. Vega and Richards worked matches at the taping as well.
