WWE SmackDown is looking a lot more royal lately, with King Xavier Woods watching over Friday nights.
King Xavier Woods recently sat down with Ray Couture of the Evansville Courier & Press to discuss all things WWE. When asked what made him want to become a wrestler, Woods believes the job of a professional wrestler is the best job you can have as an adult human:
“Of the jobs that are available to an adult human, I feel like this is easily the best one,” Xavier Woods said. “You get to put on shiny pants, be flown around the world while someone else pays for it. You get to entertain the masses, doing exactly what you were doing when you were a child in your living room watching this stuff. For me, it was a no brainer.
“(WWE) is a place where you don’t have to grow up. You can use your imagination. You can lean into your charisma, you can become a larger-than-life character. You get to learn how to tell these amazing intricate stories through your physical aspects. Whether you’re huge or small or fast, you do your best to tell these great stories that we get to tell every time we have a show, and people really enjoy it. It’s nice to have that type of interaction at work.
“I don’t know many other jobs where you go out and drop kick somebody in the face and everybody stands out of their seats and cheers for you.”
As a King now himself, Xavier Woods was asked to name his favorite historical Kings of all time. Woods had a lot of fun thoughts on that subject:
“Oh, that’s difficult,” Xavier Woods said. “King Arthur is definitely up there. Maybe a different type of king, but I love King Bowser. I like King Arthur because of the psychology between him and the Knights of the Round Table. Everybody was different, the relationship between him and Lancelot was always crazy. I just love all the intricacies there because in most situations kings are (portrayed) almost as infallible — they’re not human, they don’t have friends. With King Arthur, he’s a king, but he’s also just a man who has power.”
