Nikki and Brie Bella wanted to set the record straight, and the pair said there are no current plans for them to return to the ring — or for another season of Total Bellas.
The premiere episode of The Bellas Podcast saw Nikki and Brie Bella fielding some fan questions, two of which asked about their status as it relates to the WWE Universe. Total Bellas ran for six seasons before the series was canceled, and Nikki and Brie explained why they didn’t want to return for a seventh.
Nikki Bella: “Having Mateo, and I remember when we were finishing up the last season, it was very hard on Artem and I, and we barely filmed with him. It was the birth, and then like a day when we came home for a day or two. Artem and I had a very hard time with cameras around him and then we saw how Birdie hated it. Birdie didn’t want anyone to film her, she never wanted a camera on her, so when we wrapped up that season and we came to Napa and we fell in love with our life in Napa, we were just like, ‘Gosh, we really want to keep this private.’ And I have to say, it’s so hard having camera crews in your house, it’s just difficult and tough.
“Brie and I both talked — the Danielsons I knew, immediately were 100% out. I knew we lost Bryan and Bird from last season, day one. I was like, ‘they’re never coming back.’ And I started to talk to Brie and pick her brain, [and said] ‘I don’t want Mateo to grow up on TV, I don’t want him to have cameras in his face. I don’t even know if I want people to be involved that much in our world here in Napa, like maybe this is what we keep private, but when we have a tasting room we bring them in. Let’s have fun, let’s party, but when it comes time to personal life — and it’s hard to put your personal life out there. Artem and I feel like we’ve had such a rollercoaster and dealt with so much that I felt like after my past relationship, I need to protect this one.”
Brie Bella went on to say that they are OK with putting themselves out there, but they are reluctant and protective of putting their family life out there for the public.
Brie Bella: “When we went to WWE headquarters in Connecticut and we were going over all things Bellas, and when they were talking about moving things to a digital platform or going to a digital network, I remember sitting there and I’m like, ‘Amazing, but that’s starting a whole new journey.’ We just moved to Napa and I remember that feeling, like this is my chance to be done with that because I do, I love our life in Napa but I want it more private. I don’t know, there’s something inside of me that kept feeling like something wasn’t right and we always commit 110% to something, so I was like, ‘If we start this new chapter with someone else, a new network, a new digital platform, I have to give them everything, which means my family… I don’t know if I’m ready. I think I’m done with that.”

Nikki said they’ve been feeling that for a while now, and she said they saw the signs the universe showed them and it made them realize that chapter was closed. Brie said it doesn’t mean they are done with television as a whole, noting that they have some fun projects in the works, but Total Bellas is done.
As far as coming back to the ring, Nikki says there’s no plans for that either. The two previously teased
Nikki Bella: “In a quick thing, there are no plans for Brie and I to return to the ring. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to return to the ring as now I am officially retired per our doctors. So the day that we are going to be warming up, practicing and maybe coming back, you, our Bellas Podcast listeners, will be the first to know.
Brie Bella: Do we miss the ring? Absolutely. We miss the Bella Army and the WWE Universe, we’d love to get back out there one day, it’s just not anytime soon.”
Nikki and Brie Bella have hinted at an in-ring return in the past, but have maintained that it’s in the future. The duo, now enshrined in the WWE Hall Of Fame, said that the return will happen one day… but now it appears that fans must continue to wait for some more twin magic.
