Sometimes it’s hard for professional wrestling fans to describe it to their friends who aren’t fans. Leave it to All Elite Wrestling‘s Bryan Danielson to come up with a great comparison.
Ahead of Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Bryan Danielson sat down with Maura Johnston of the Boston Globe to discuss a variety of subjects. When asked to define professional wrestling, Danielson had a unique take, describing it as combat theater:
“I could define it with two words: ‘combat theater,’ ” Bryan Danielson said. “You can take ‘combat theater’ in any direction that you like — different people like different types of theater, just the same way that people like different types of movies. I tend to take [the idea] more from a drama perspective, or a sports perspective — although like any theater performer, you have to be able to delve into aspects of comedy and other things.”
Bryan Danielson and Eddie Kingston will meet in the second round of the AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament. The final match in the first round, Jon Moxley vs. Preston “10” Vance of the Dark Order is scheduled for Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite in Boston. This week’s show will also mark the first time fans on the west coast will be able to watch AEW live, as TNT will no longer air the show on tape delay in the region.
