Report: Ring Announcer Greg Hamilton Released By WWE

WWE has reportedly released ring announcer Greg Hutson, known on TV as Greg Hamilton.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider writes that he was released earlier this week. Hutson made headlines when he took to Instagram to claim that WWE’s lawyers would sue rapper Westside Gunn for using a sample of his voice.

Hutson subsequently removed WWE references from his Twitter page, and PWInsider later confirmed the release.

Upon signing with WWE in 2015, Hutston worked for WWE NXT until the company called him up in 2016. He announced for WWE Superstars and Main Event before he was promoted to the regular announcer for SmackDown.

Hamilton is remembered for announcing Shane McMahon as “The Best in the World” during McMahon’s heel run in 2019.

Before he signed with WWE, Hutson worked for the Orlando Magic and other markets for various affiliates.

WWE will provide more details as they become available.
