AEW Dynamite saw a slight boost in viewership compared to the last time the show ran on a Saturday due to being pre-empted.
According to Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston, Saturday’s episode of AEW Dynamite brought in 727,000 viewers, which is down from the 1.053 million viewers the show drew for its previous live broadcast (in its normal Wednesday timeslot) on October 6.
Despite the week-to-week drop in viewership, Thurston also noted that AEW Dynamite still posted a better viewership this week compared to the last time it aired on a Saturday (649,000 viewers on June 26). This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite also scored a 0.28 demo (366,000 viewers), which is higher than the 0.21 (277,000) the show brought in on June 26.
The October 16 episode of Dynamite was highlighted by several advertised matches, including Bryan Danielson vs. Bobby Fish, Superkliq vs. Dark Order, Junior Dos Santos’ in-ring debut with Men Of The Year against Inner Circle, and Malakai Black vs. Dante Martin. The Lucha Brothers were set to defend their AAA titles against a mystery team, which was revealed to be FTR under the guise of a team called “Las Super Ranas.”
Year-To-Date AEW Dynamite viewership totals
- Year High — September 22: 1,273,000 viewers
- Year Low — June 4: 462,000 viewers
- Current Week — October 16: 727,000 viewers
AEW is celebrating a different ratings “win”, as the promotion’s Rampage broadcast (briefly) went head-to-head with WWE SmackDown on Friday. SmackDown pulled in more viewers overall, but AEW drew more eyes when the two programs were running concurrently for 30 minutes during primetime.
