Sasha Banks wants to remind everyone that she truly is “The Boss,” and a potential reignition of her feud with Charlotte Flair might be the best way to do that.
In an interview with Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post, Banks shared her thoughts on Flair’s looming move to WWE SmackDown once the draft rosters officially take effect. The former SmackDown Women’s Champion noted that she wants to avenge her previous losses to “The Queen” and beat her in the race to for the honor of being called the greatest of all time. In doing so, she specified her goal of winning more titles than Flair in order to go down as the best.”
“Oh yeah I’m coming back for my revenge, all those times that that girl beat me up,” said Banks. “I’m trying to beat Charlotte Flair and get more titles than her. I’m trying to beat John Cena. I’m trying to beat Ric Flair. So that’s my goal when Charlotte Flair fully comes to ‘Friday Night SmackDown.’ It’s just going to be a race to the game of who’s going to be the greatest of all time and that’s already is me.”
“The Boss” will have the opportunity to add another title reign to her list when she challenges Becky Lynch for the blue brand’s title at WWE Crown Jewel. This high-stakes Triple Threat Match, in which Bianca Belair will also fight for the gold, presents Banks with the opportunity to keep the title on SmackDown, as both of opponents will move to RAW when the draft effects kick in. With this eventuality in mind, Banks stressed the importance of this bout.
“[Winning the title] would mean everything,” said Banks. “I can’t let Bianca and Becky, two Raw superstars (after the draft) take my hard work, my SmackDown women’s championship to that show. So I definitely have to make sure that I keep that SmackDown title on ‘Friday Night SmackDown.’ And with Charlotte Flair coming into the mix on SmackDown, it’s definitely going to be a cool little rivalry that we’re gonna have.
Speaking of Lynch, Banks will face “The Man” on this week’s episode of SmackDown. When asked about Lynch’s return to WWE, Banks described how she was inspired by the champion’s strength in balancing her responsibilities as a mother and as a main-event star. “The Boss” also expressed her excitement about facing the “new” Lynch, as her heelish persona stands in stark contrast from the fan-favorite character Banks faced in their previous encounters.
“It’s completely so inspiring,” said Banks. “To see her come back looking better than she’s ever looked. And to put out a baby and have a six pack, you know she’s coming for everybody’s throat. It just really makes me what to step up my game because I have no idea what it takes to be a mother on the road. They all inspire me so much that they can just do all of this.
“To be a WWE superstar alone is hard, but to be a woman in the game, but to be a brand new mother, wow, she’s on a whole different level, a whole different fire is in her eyes because she’s not just fighting for herself. She’s fighting for her daughter. Her hunger is just up there. I can’t wait to fight this new Becky Lynch.”
