The wrestling world has been buzzing about the battle for supremacy between WWE and AEW for some time now, and the fight is heating up ahead of a head-to-head showdown between SmackDown and Rampage on Friday night.
In an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, the Young Bucks, two men at the center of the perceived “war”, discussed how the wrestling world has missed this competition because it’s exciting and fun.
“I love the competition,” Nick Jackson said. “It makes pro wrestling so much more fun to watch. This is what wrestling needed for the last 20 years. I’m just glad we’ve helped bring that excitement back. Let’s f—ing go.”
One primary aspect of the battle has been the trend of major stars jumping ship from WWE to AEW. Adam Cole‘s decision to become “All Elite” sent shockwaves throughout the industry, and during the interview, the Young Bucks emphasized how they’re happy to team up with him again. Beyond the former NXT Champion’s star power, Matt Jackson also pointed to Cole’s value behind the scenes and called him “that missing piece of the puzzle.”
“I can’t fully express the happiness I currently have, sharing a ring with Adam Cole again,” Matt Jackson said. “His positivity and energy had really helped the morale in our locker room. I haven’t stopped smiling since he showed up. When he arrived, it felt like we finally found that missing piece of the puzzle. The whole gang is finally back together. We hadn’t worked together in five years, but the chemistry was still there. The dude is a star and getting some of the biggest reactions I’ve ever heard.”
