Acey Romero has reportedly parted ways with IMPACT Wrestling.
On Tuesday, AdFreeShows’ Jon Alba reported the news that Ace Romero’s release was granted and said he is free to work with any promotion he’d like to moving forward.
Per previous reports, Romero asked for his release at the end of August; he hasn’t appeared on IMPACT programming since May 20. Romero tested positive for COVID-19 around this time, but he still wasn’t used after he was cleared.
In an update to Alba’s confirmation, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that Romero obtained his release and that while the process was somewhat slow-going, it was fairly smooth otherwise. Sapp notes that Romero’s departure doesn’t come with a non-compete clause, so he’s free to compete elsewhere. During his absence from IMPACT, Romero has remained active on the independent circuit, particularly for Limitless Wrestling.
Acey Romero’s partner in XXXL, Larry D, is still signed to IMPACT, but he hasn’t been used since Romero’s last appearance, either.
Update: Romero issued a statement later in the day and confirmed that he had been released. He thanked everyone at IMPACT and Anthem before he called :arrry D someone who was “like a brother.” He then expressed his excitement for the future.
I’ll see you when I see you..
Thank you for reading.
