The Mall Of America Is On Board With Hosting AEW Dynamite Taping: ‘It Worked Great The First Time’

AEW Dynamite at The Mall Of America? Nothing’s planned right now, but the venue would welcome wrestling back since it worked so well the first time.

AEW Dynamite is set to take place at the Target Center in Minneapolis on Friday, November 12, the first of two consecutive nights in the building. AEW Full Gear takes place on Saturday, November 13, but fans are still clamoring for a nostalgia fix and want a Dynamite taping to take place inside the famed Mall Of America.

One fan posted such in response to an ad for the Full Gear event, noting that Dynamite should be held at the Mall since he heard “it’s a great venue for pro wrestling.” The Mall Of America also hosted the first episode of WCW Monday Nitro on September 4, 1995, which featured Brian Pillman versus Jushin Thunder Liger, Ric Flair versus Sting, and the controversial return of Lex Luger, who had wrestled for WWE the night prior.

The Mall Of America posted the following response, explaining that it’d be great to host a wrestling event again since it worked so well the first time:

“We’re all for it! It worked great the first time. @AEW brings the [fire emoji],” the account replied.

While it’s good to see the venue on board, there are some obstacles in the way of that fan’s wish coming true, namely a logistics and scheduling conflict. AEW Dynamite won’t be able to tape the week after Full Gear because it is already scheduled to take place on Wednesday, November 17 in Norfolk, VA. We’ll have to wait and see if the Mall ever hosts another wrestling event in the future… perhaps by then they’ll be ready for the grand opening of a restaurant that involves another blast from the past.
