Sean Waltman Was The ‘Buddy Roberts’ Of The Wolfpac, And It Was By Design

WWE Hall of Famer Sean Waltman‘s contributions to the nWo in WCW during the Monday Night Wars cannot be overstated.

Sean Waltman was a crucial member of the nWo faction, and following his WCW release, the group never seemed to be the same. Maybe that’s because the nWo lost their Buddy Roberts.

Sean Waltman was the latest guest on Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw to discuss a variety of subjects related to his pro wrestling career. When talking about the four greatest wrestling factions of all time, Bradshaw mentioned the nWo, D-Generation X, The Four Horsemen, and The Fabulous Freebirds. He would go on to compare Sean Waltman to Buddy Roberts, a comparison that Waltman was more than happy to agree with:

“Thank you for recognizing that because that’s by design, that was on purpose,” Sean Waltman revealed. “I was the Buddy Roberts of The Wolfpac. The Wolfpac was like The Freebirds. Even we did the Freebirds rules; we call it Wolfpac rules. Like when Scott [Hall] and Kev [Nash] were the tag champs, [and] Kev was hurt, so I defend it with Scott and things like that. Yeah, man. We were like the Freebirds, and we weren’t afraid to admit it either we are Freebird marks, regardless of whatever. [laughs]”
