WWE Signs Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson To Multi-Year Deal

The Wrestling Observer reported earlier this week that Gable Steveson had signed a contract with WWE after his brother Bobby was announced as the latest class at the WWE Performance Center. Now both ESPN and WWE are confirming these reports as Steveson’s signing is now official.

Gable Steveson’s deal is the first of its kind, allowing Steveson to be a WWE Superstar and continue to compete in the NCAA for the University of Minnesota. This could be a game-changer for the industry going forward. Only time will tell.

ESPN reports that Gable Steveson has signed a multi-year deal and that WWE will be setting up a remote training facility near the campus of the Univerity of Minnesota that will allow Steveson to train to become a WWE Superstar without having to move to Orlando and report to the WWE Performance Center.

Steveson will still have access to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando if time permits, and his contract won’t officially begin until he graduates from college next May.

The following is a press release from WWE regarding the signing of Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson:

WWE signs Olympic gold medalist and reigning NCAA wrestling champion Gable Steveson to an exclusive agreement.

In the company’s first-ever NIL deal, Steveson will join the WWE roster while defending his NCAA title for the University of Minnesota.

For those unfamiliar, the NIL deal with the NCAA signifies the ability for college athletes to earn money off their name, image, and likeness. This new policy instituted by the NCAA allowed a deal of this nature with WWE to happen.
